Two New Bakeries Add Their Own Unique Flair to Cambridge

New cafes have recently opened in Cambridge, and they are already making waves. Nine Winters Bakery opened in Huron Village, and Page & Leaf Cafe opened inside the new Porter Square Books location. Both bakeries join other popular coffee shops in the Porter Square-Huron Village area. One of those cafes include Phinista, which opened in Porter Square last fall.

Upon entering the Korean-American cafe Nine Winters Bakery, it’s a very small but quaint place. As the newest shop to open in the Huron Village neighborhood, it adds some unique ambiance. Cartoon art is plastered all over the walls, and the kitchen is accessible in the back. Pastries line the counter such as the chocolate chip black sesame cookie. The food menu may be small, but the sandwiches and dishes are unique to Korea - such as milk bread for sandwiches and Gochujang bolognese. The coffee is silky and smooth, and there are syrup options for drinks including caramel, vanilla, and perilla. There are a bunch of tables spaced around the restaurants with small tablepieces. The mellow-pop Korean music added to the relaxing vibe of the place. While the restaurant is small in size, there is a lot of heart to make up for it.

Located inside the new Porter Square Books location, Page & Leaf Cafe is serving up breakfast, lunch, pastries, and coffee. The coffee shop is lined with windows, and it feels very bright. Art and bookshelves line the walls, and typewriters are displayed at the back. Wooden tables and chairs fill the space. The bookstore itself is only feet away, so customers can take their coffees with them as they browse.

Nine Winters Bakery and Page & Leaf Cafe add more variety and deliciousness to the West Cambridge area. Next time you’re looking for a nice cup of coffee or pastry, check out either of these two cafes! The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and the baristas won’t let you down.
