MusicFansFestivities: The Best of Boston Calling 2025
Boston Calling 2025 Rocks the City—A Look Back at an Epic Festival Weekend
Last weekend, the 14th annual Boston Calling Music Festival took over the Harvard University Athletics Complex. The festival was packed with music lovers, popular local food vendors, and, most importantly, great music. This year’s headliners were Luke Combs, Fall Out Boy, and Dave Matthews Band.
Day two of the festival was filled with nostalgic alternative and emo rock artists, such as Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, Cage The Elephant, All Time Low, and The Maine. In addition, pop artist James Bay, female pop duo Lucius, and the legendary band The Black Crowes rounded out the day, adding their unique sounds. The audience was packed with fans showing their enjoyment by dancing the day and night away. One highlight happened at the end of Avril Lavigne’s set when dozens of black and orange balls were launched and tossed around the crowd.
The indoor Arena was a returning addition to the festival after an 8-year hiatus, featuring jazz musicians from Berklee College of Music. The Green and Blue Stages featured rising stars along with mainstream acts, and the Orange Stage featured local artists and showcased a variety of genres throughout the day. It was a definite improvement from last year, when there was an additional Red Stage and the festival suffered from some overcrowding issues. This year, fans were packed in towards the front of the general admission section, but those who wanted to chill had ample space on the turf to throw down a blanket and relax.

Festival goers got to enjoy food from many different vendors from the Boston area, including Tasty Burger, Fomu Ice Cream, Sally’s APizza, Flip The Bird , and Naco Taco . A ferris wheel was also available for people to enjoy a birds eye view of the entire festival. Wherever you went, you were always within a crowd having a good time.
Day two came with occasional heavy rain in the early afternoon, not much sun to be found, and cold temperatures by the time the headliners went onstage. But, that’s festival life for you! The music and atmosphere make it worth staying the whole time.
