Boston’s Scooper Bowl Serves Up Ice Cream, Fun, and Hope

Who wouldn’t want to eat ice cream for a good cause? On Tuesday through Thursday, The Jimmy Fund hosted their 42nd annual Scooper Bowl at City Hall Plaza. All ticket payments were donated to Dana Farber adult and pediatric cancer research. Open from 12-8pm, people could come and go as they pleased. Each day was filled with fun, entertainment, and delicious dessert.

This year, fourteen vendors served up 56 delicious flavors: Ben & Jerry’s, Brigham’s, Edy’s, Friendly’s, Haagen Dazs, Holy Cow, Hood, Lactaid, JonnyPops, McConnells, Melona, Philadelphia Water Ice, Samanco, and Tillamook. More than 900 gallons of ice cream were served this year. There were many unique flavors, such as vanilla pretzel fudge from Ben & Jerry’s, chocolate dipped coconut macaroon from McConnells, campfire peanut butter cup from Tillamook, and vegan coconut oreo from Holy Cow. There was guaranteed to be something for everyone.

In addition to the all-you-can-eat ice cream, live entertainment and games and activities were in the middle of the fun. DJs and musicians such as DJ Mike Janedy, Net Generation Concerts, and Elephant In The Room performed over the event’s three days inside a tent for guests to enjoy while eating. The activities were not listed, but all music acts can be found here.

Before the crowds poured in on Wednesday, there was a sensory friendly hour to accommodate those who needed it. On Thursday evening, there was a happy hour with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options from Harpoon Brewery, Truro Vineyards, 90+ Cellars, and Athletic Brewing. Also on Thursday, Red Sox’s mascot Wally and his sister Tessie stopped by to help scoop ice cream!
