Jazz Sunday: Allan Chase: Non-Standard Standards

jazz saxophone Few know more about jazz history than Allan Chase, a brilliant scholar and phenomenal alto and baritone saxophonist whose playing is informed by Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Gerry Mulligan, and more. DownBeat magazine dubbed him “an edgier kind of cool.” For this event, Chase has dug up rarely played standards for his great band and a curated list of tunes to jam on.  Everyone's favorite professor, he’s a legendary teacher who has shaped a generation or more of jazz musicians.  Jazz Sundays at The Square Root brings together Boston’s best jazz artists in an intimate restaurant setting for performances and themed jams.
