On November 20, 2025Josiah Quincy Elementary School (JQES) will celebrate 178 years of educating Boston’s children and honor the strong community support that sustains our students at our Dragons F.I.R.E. Fundraiser at Empire Garden Restaurant in Chinatown.

We invite you to join us as a supporter and partner in this important celebration.

In 2022, JQES became the first Boston public elementary school to earn distinction as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program School. This accreditation reflects our unwavering commitment to holistic learning through inquiry, interdisciplinary study, and Mandarin language instruction. As the largest elementary school in the Boston Public Schools system, JQES is proud to lead the way in offering this kind of rich, global education to our students.

However, persistent budget cuts at the federal, state, and municipal levels mean our students need your support now more than ever. This year, we seek to raise $200,000 to maintain the exceptional level of education and enrichment that defines the Pre-K–5th grade experience for more than 725 students.

With your generosity, the Josiah Quincy School Association (JQSA) can continue providing the additional resources to help our students learn, grow, and excel:

  • Technology | opening up new worlds of learning in-classroom and at-home by ensuring every student has access to modern technology, software, and learning apps
  • STEM | fostering investigation and innovation through engaging activities in science, technology, engineering, and math, such as, Science for Scientists
  • Art & Creative Expression | nurturing creativity and expression with vibrant arts experiences, such as, Urban Improv
  • Swim Instruction | This year we will reopen the school pool with swim staff and pool equipment! Lessons will be provided to students in grades 2-5
  • Movement | engaging students through our partner, Playworks, and other physical activity programs and equipment
  • Field Trips | expanding horizons with real-world experiences beyond the classroom, like visits to farms, orchards, historical sites, and museums
  • School Community Council Family Wide Events
  • Services | strengthening resilience and well-being, helping students thrive academically and personal
