Few know more about jazz history than Allan Chase, a brilliant scholar and phenomenal alto/ baritone saxophonist whose playing is informed by Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Gerry Mulligan. DownBeat magazine dubbed him “an edgier kind of cool.” Everyone's favorite professor, he has shaped generations of jazz musicians.

His set is followed by a jam on the kaleidoscopic, space-traveling music of Sun Ra.
