    Kendall Square’s newly opened Sumiao Hunan Kitchen is continuing its tradition of bringing imbibers a new monthly cocktail special available all month for only $7. During the month of November, the SHK bar team will be shaking up a spiked hot tea concoction that keeps you warm and comforted during the change of seasons while keeping your wallet happy. The foundation of SHK’s Hot Toddy is a warm lemon-honey black tea that is enriched by the depth of whiskey, a spirit that captures the earthy essence of autumn in New England. A housemade lavender-clove reduction is folded in and the cocktail is finished with a sweet dose of Disaronno Amaretto and garnished with a lemon twist. ‘Tis the season for hot cocktails and warm hearts.     The newly opened Sumiao Hunan Kitchen is celebrating their first Thanksgiving in Kendall Square by dishing out Hunanese twists on traditional “Turkey Day” staples and family-style prix fixe menus for four-to-eight guests from November 23-24. Sumiao’s a la carte specialties include the four-piece Pan-Seared Pumpkin Cake with sweet pumpkin, sticky rice powder, condensed milk and sesame ($12); Mala Turkey with house chili soy sauce, Szechuan peppercorn oil, cilantro and sesame ($14); Crispy Turkey with hoisin-BBQ sauce ($28); and, tempura-style Yolk Breaded Pumpkin with preserved duck yolk and sweet pumpkin ($18). Whether feasting for Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving, group dining is made simple with Sumiao’s trio of prix fixe-style menus. Each menu starts with Melted Gold Soup with pumpkin and millet. Moving onto the appetizer course (Sumiao Shang Gan, Scallion Pancake or Spicy Dried Baby Fish), groups of four pick one while groups of six choose two, and eight select three. Each guest then can choose one sharable entrée from a selection of 12 signature vegetable, seafood and meat dishes like the Spicy Cauliflower, Red-Braised Pork Belly or Steamed Duijiao Tilapia. Each group also gets a complimentary order of one of the a la carte specials featured on these two days. Lastly, during the week of November 20-27, Sumiao Hunan Kitchen will get social by offering up interactive lottery drawings, a special “thank you” gift to their guests.     Thanksgiving, that magical time of year when you come together to show gratitude and appreciation for family, friends... and beer. City Tap House in Fort Point will be celebrating its first Thanksgiving season in Boston by reveling the community with two Allagash beer-laced feasts: a “Friendsgiving” Sunday supper benefitting a great cause on November 19 and a Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner on November 23. Chef A.J. Beaulieu has whipped up a specialty Thanksgiving plate ($25) for both occasions, with each component incorporating a different beer from Allagash Brewing Company (Portland, ME). At Friendsgiving, $5 from each plate will be donated to The Greater Boston Food Bank and because City Tap is thankful for their visitors, out-of-towners on Thanksgiving Day can receive 15% off their meal by showing their hotel room key. The Allagash Brewing Company-fueled turkey dinner will feature hoppy table brined turkey with Brown Ale gravy and mashed potatoes, chestnut and pear stuffing with Allagash Black, orange and cranberry sauce made with Allagash White, and roasted carrots with an apricot-Allagash Tripel reduction. Pairing the plate with specialty dark beers and stouts completes the feast, but not without the finishing touch of an a la carte pumpkin pie served with curieux caramel sauce ($5). Gobble, gobble.
