Many Boston-area restaurants are inviting guests to drop their spatulas, ditch their aprons and leave cooking the turkey up to the professionals.  From weeklong specials to prix-fixe menus, Sonsie, Summer Shack, Doretta Taverna, Puritan & Co., Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca, Back Bay Social Club, and Alta Strada promise to make this Thanksgiving a delicious one!


Sonsie Boston

Serving regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus in addition to a special Thanksgiving dinner option, Sonsie will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Available from 11 a.m. on in traditiona-stylel or gluten-free, Sonsie’s Thanksgiving dinner will be offered per person, as well as family style for parties of 8 or more (all guests must be participating in the Thanksgiving dinner and family style is only available by reservation). Sonsie’s Thanksgiving dinner costs $27 per person and consists of roasted turkey breast, sausage and cornbread stuffing, gravy (gluten-free gravy available), mashed potatoes, turnips, roasted carrots, broccoli gratin, and cranberry relish. Sonsie will also be serving up $8 slices of homemade pie.


Summer Shack

On Thanksgiving Day, Summer Shack will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., serving up their regular menu as well as a traditional thanksgiving meal with all the fixings for only $35. Summer Shack will also offer folks celebrating at home a variety of delicious to-go options available for pick-up on Wednesday, November 22nd from noon to 6 p.m., including Southern deep-fried or oven-roasted turkeys, sides, desserts, and appetizers. Available at Doretta Taverna the week prior to Thanksgiving in addition to their regular menu, Michael Schlow’s Greek eatery will offer guests a family-style “Friendsgiving” prix-fixe for $65 per person. The first course will be a tasting of home-made spreads & pita village salad; the second course will offer a choice of baked manouri cheese, lamb meatballs, spinach pie, monkfish tempura ‘gyro’, grilled octopus, grilled loukaniko, pan-roasted shrimp, zucchini chips; the third course will be a choice of lamb shoulder, lemon chicken, pan-seared lavraki or roasted cauliflower; and the dessert course will feature a tasting of various desserts.

On Thanksgiving Eve, Puritan & Co. will be celebrating their 5th anniversary with a “Friends-You-Choose Feast.” With regular reservations available until 8 p.m., Puritan’s “Friends-You-Choose Feast” will kick off at 9 p.m. and feature complimentary bites and a cash bar.

Offering an Italian take on the classic Thanksgiving turkey, Babbo will be serving up a Paccheri (Neapolitan Rigatoni) with a braised turkey ragu as a special from Tuesday, the 21st through Saturday, the 25th (excluding Thanksgiving day as the restaurant will be closed).

In addition to their regular menu, Back Bay Social Club will be offering guests a three-course thanksgiving menu on Thanksgiving Day. Available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the menu will cost $30 per adult and $13 per child. The first course will be a garden salad with mesclun, tomatoes, cucumbers, and balsamic vinaigrette; the second choice will be a choice of roasted turkey and gravy or sweet-glazed honey ham, both served with baked sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, pumpernickel stuffing, cranberry sauce, and creamed corn; and the dessert course will be a choice of homemade pumpkin or apple pie.

Alta Strada will be offering a special Thanksgiving takeout menu on a call-ahead basis. Offering its regularly available menu items from its Italian market in addition to Thanksgiving specials, Alta Strada will be taking orders until Monday, November 21st. Alta Strada’s Thanksgiving menu items will be available in two sizes/price ranges. Menu items include Francese bread stuffing with apples; chestnuts & sage whipped potatoes; honey glazed carrots with mint; butternut squash soup; Brussel sprouts with prosciutto; roasted butternut squash with sage & nutmeg; cranberry sauce; home-style gravy; and a variety of homemade pies.
